The essentials first
For us, transport for people with disabilities means accessible vehicles with a ramp or lift, trained staff and door-to-door assistance – for people with physical or multiple disabilities. We provide single journeys as well as recurring appointments on a fixed schedule, in Basel-Stadt, in Basel-Landschaft and throughout north-western Switzerland.
Typical uses
- Journeys to work, sheltered workshops and day centres
- Therapy, doctor and treatment appointments
- Journeys to institutions and residential homes
- Leisure, visits and family occasions
- Holiday escort for wheelchair users
With us, accessible really means accessible
Much of what is offered as accessible transport ends at the kerb. With us, it starts at your front door: our staff collect you, accompany you to the vehicle, secure the wheelchair and the person with approved restraint systems and take you all the way to your destination – not just to the house number.
Our vehicles are equipped with a ramp or lift, so you can get in while seated in your wheelchair without being transferred. We carry electric wheelchairs by arrangement; please tell us the model and weight.
Single journey or fixed schedule
Many of our journeys are not exceptions but everyday life: the same trip to the workshop, the day centre or therapy, several times a week, for months. For recurring journeys like these, we set up a fixed routine – the same times, familiar faces, no explanations each time you book.
Institutions, residential homes and workshops work with us on the basis of a standing arrangement. Get in touch if you are planning regular journeys – we will prepare a quote based on your actual volume of journeys.
Holiday escort for wheelchair users
People who use a wheelchair and cannot travel independently should not have to do without a holiday because of it. We accompany wheelchair users on their journey – from the front door to the holiday destination and back.
Because these journeys are planned individually, we discuss the schedule, time windows and costs with you personally in advance.

Frequently asked questions: Transport for people with disabilities
How much does transport for people with disabilities cost in Basel?
The price depends on the distance, the type of transport and the level of assistance required. Call us on 0800 670 670 or send us your request via the booking form – you will receive a binding answer before you book.
Do you also provide regular journeys to a workshop or day centre?
Yes. For recurring journeys we set up a fixed routine with consistent times. For institutions, we prepare a quote based on the actual volume of journeys.
Can you transport electric wheelchairs?
As a rule, yes. Since electric wheelchairs are heavier, we need the model and weight in advance in order to schedule the right vehicle.
Do you also operate in Basel-Landschaft?
Yes. We operate in Basel-Stadt, in Basel-Landschaft and throughout north-western Switzerland – and, on request, all over Switzerland and abroad.

The first IVR-recognised patient transport service in north-western Switzerland
Recognition by the Swiss Interassociation for Rescue Services (IVR/IAS) is not a self-assessment but the result of an external audit of vehicles, equipment, training and procedures. Mobimed was the first patient transport provider in north-western Switzerland to receive it — and still holds it today.
