The essentials first
In the Basel area, we offer a specialised transport service for pregnant women – for journeys to examinations and for the journey to hospital when labour begins. In most cases, a calm journey to hospital is still possible even if your waters have already broken. For our trained transport assistants, this is not an unusual assignment.
Typical uses
- Journey to hospital when labour begins
- Examinations and check-up appointments
- Journeys to the midwife or gynaecologist
- Journey home after the hospital stay
Talk to your midwife first
If you notice signs that labour is starting, please contact your midwife or gynaecologist first. A brief professional assessment will clarify whether an ordinary transport is safe – which it is in the vast majority of cases.
If there is a risk situation or medical monitoring is needed during the journey, the ambulance service is responsible. In that case, call 144.
A calm journey makes all the difference
Alongside the excitement, a pregnancy also brings a lot of organisation – and on the day of the birth, of all days, the journey to hospital should not become an extra burden. We drive calmly, with foresight and with all the time it takes.
Your partner or another companion is of course welcome to travel along free of charge. It would be a pleasure for us to accompany you safely through this special stage of life.

The first IVR-recognised patient transport service in north-western Switzerland
Recognition by the Swiss Interassociation for Rescue Services (IVR/IAS) is not a self-assessment but the result of an external audit of vehicles, equipment, training and procedures. Mobimed was the first patient transport provider in north-western Switzerland to receive it — and still holds it today.
