The essentials first
Our private transport service for seniors takes you to the doctor, to hospital, to therapy, to the hairdresser or to visit family – and back home again. We collect you at the door of your flat, help you with the stairs and getting into the vehicle, and accompany you all the way to reception. In a wheelchair, with a rollator or if walking is difficult, too.
Typical uses
- Doctor, dentist and therapy appointments
- Hospital admission and the journey home after a hospital stay
- Regular journeys on a fixed schedule, e.g. to dialysis
- Moving into a care home, visits to relatives
- Journeys in a wheelchair or with a rollator, even in buildings without a lift
More than just a ride: door-to-door assistance
Many older people can manage the ride itself, but not the bits in between: the stairs without a lift, the way from the car park to the entrance, checking in at the hospital. That is exactly where we come in. Our trained staff collect you from your flat, help you put on your jacket, secure you in the vehicle and accompany you to the waiting room or the ward.
If you use a wheelchair, you stay seated in it – our vehicles have a ramp or lift. If you need to travel lying down after an operation, we transport you by stretcher.
For relatives: reliable, even while you are at work
Daughters, sons and neighbours often book for their parents or acquaintances – because they cannot accompany them to the appointment themselves. You book online or by phone, we collect on time and get in touch with you if there are any questions. One accompanying person can always travel along free of charge.
For recurring appointments, we set up a fixed routine: the same times, the same drivers wherever possible, no need to explain everything again for each journey.
Private transport service or volunteer driving service?
Volunteer driving services – for example those run by charitable organisations such as the Red Cross – work with committed volunteers who usually drive their own cars. For seniors who can get in and out of a car independently, this is a good solution.
Anyone who uses a wheelchair, cannot walk safely, has to travel lying down after an operation or needs a journey at short notice is better served by a professional patient transport service: with vehicles for wheelchairs and stretchers, staff trained to IVR standards and availability 365 days a year.

Frequently asked questions: Transport service for seniors
What is a private transport service for seniors?
A private transport service for seniors takes older people to the doctor, hospital, therapy or visits for a fee – collecting them at the door of their flat and accompanying them all the way to their destination. Unlike volunteer driving services, it is also available at short notice, in a wheelchair or lying down, and can be reached 365 days a year.
How much does the transport service for seniors cost?
The price depends on the distance, the type of transport and the level of assistance required. Call us on 0800 670 670 (free call) – you will get the information before you book. If the journey is medically necessary and prescribed by a doctor, your health insurer will generally contribute to the costs.
Do you also collect from flats without a lift?
Yes. For stairs, we use a stair chair and come as a team of two. When you book, please tell us which floor the flat is on.
Can I book on behalf of my parents as a relative?
Yes. Book online or by phone and give us a number on which we can reach you if we have any questions. One accompanying person travels free of charge.
Do you also drive to the hairdresser or to family visits?
Yes. We do not only drive to medical appointments, but anywhere you need assistance – you pay for these journeys privately.

The first IVR-recognised patient transport service in north-western Switzerland
Recognition by the Swiss Interassociation for Rescue Services (IVR/IAS) is not a self-assessment but the result of an external audit of vehicles, equipment, training and procedures. Mobimed was the first patient transport provider in north-western Switzerland to receive it — and still holds it today.
